Born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Paul and Mary Parila Krasko, she attended Pittsburgh schools and was a resident of Olyphant approximately 25 years. She was employed in the garment industry before retirement and was a member of All Saints Orthodox Church, Olyphant. Surviving are three sisters, Rose Yuhas, Sunrise, Helen Jadick, Covington, and Martha Heffron, Olyphant; two brothers, Michael, Lauder Hill, and Paul, Fort Lauderdale, nieces and nephews.

Honigman, who died March 1, 1986. They were married 48 years. Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late John and Helen Hakas Vasisko, she was a housewife and member of Queen of Peace Church, Hawley. She resided in Hawley the last 18 years and formerly in Brooklyn, N.Y. Surviving are two sisters, Helen D'Andrea, Hawley, and Pauline Pellet, Gaithersburg, four brothers, Michael Vasisko, Ashland, Henry Vasisko, Hawley; Vincent Vasisko, Endicott, N.Y., and Robert Vasisko, Delhi, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.

Catherine Gallagher Gominger August 31, 2001 Catherine "Kate" Gallagher Gominger, of 15 Sand Carbondale, died unexpectedly Friday night at home. She was the wife of Joseph Gominger. Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Frank and Helen McDonough Sweeney, she was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale, and earned her nursing license while employed by Toms River (N.J.) Community Hospital.

Before retirement, she was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital, Carbondale, and the Carbondale Nursing Home. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her husband was her best friend. She loved her family, traveling and camping. She was recently honored by her family with a surprise birthday party.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nadine Staples and Linda Newcomb, both of Carbondale; two sons, James Gallagher, Carbondale, and Gerald Gallagher, Olyphant; 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Helen Tallett and Dorothy Gamalia, both of Carbondale; a brother, Francis Sweeney, Florida; nieces and nephews. Joseph Franklin August 31, 2001 L. Joseph "Joe" Franklin, 75, Honesdale, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, after an illness. His wife is the former Helen E. Daniels. Born in Beach Lake, son of the late Leon and Christine Petersen Franklin, he was a retired employee of Honor Brand Feeds and the Katz Underwear Honesdale.

He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale. Also surviving are a sister, Evelyn Weber, Honesdale; a brother, Eugene, South Daytona, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Cyrus and Benjamin, and a sister, Edith Warring. The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.

Main Honesdale. Eleanor Lombardi August 31, 2001 Eleanor "Nona" Lombardi, 82, of Vestal, N.Y., died Friday at the Vestal Nursing Center. She was the wife of Alfred Lombardi. They were married 53 years. She earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from Drexel University and was a Navy veteran.

She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal; past president of its Altar and Rosary Society and a founder and original member of the Virginia Avenue Bridge Club. Also surviving are a daughter, Ann Mobile, a son, Peter Spring Grove; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Murphy and Mary Jane Bried. Born in Duryea, daughter of the late John and Susan Russin Olenick, she had attended Moosic schools and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pittston. She resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before returning to this area 20 years ago. Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth Ratz, Moosic, and Anna Patalon, Duryea; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Stephen Olenick, and two sisters, Catherine Estock and Josephine Koch.

Sadauckas Catherine Wisneski August 31, 2001 George F.

Sadauckas, 82, West Scranton, died Friday morning at Mercy Hospital. His wife is the former Verna M. Braukus. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Nov. 24.

Born May 19, 1919, in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Anna Novak Budwitis Sadauckas, he was educated in Scranton schools and was a 1938 graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School. He attended the University of Scranton, where he studied public relations. He was an assistant foreman at the Underwood Typewriter Bridgeport, before his military service. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in Iceland, Hawaii and Okinawa. On return, he was employed by International Correspondence Schools, Scranton, and was inspector of roads for the city.

He also worked for Capitol Records, Scranton, and retired after 21 years with Pennsylvania Gas and Water Co. He was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Lithuanian Church, West Scranton; an executive officer of the Lackawanna Home Builder's Association eight years and held a life membership on its board of directors. He was a member and former president of the Lithuanian Beneficial Association of Scranton, a gold card member of the Taurus Club and a regional director of the Lithuanian Catholic Alliance. Also surviving are a sister, Jean Simkulak, Forty Fort; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad with Mass at 10 a.m. in St.

Thelma D. Jones August 31, 2001 Thelma D. Jones, 86, Jefferson Township, died Friday at home after an illness. She was the widow of Byron Doyle, who died in 1973, and her second husband, Grant Jones, who died in 1989. Born in Lee Summit, daughter of the late Hugh and Anna Lumman Hammond, she was a graduate of Lone Jack Missouri High School and before retirement was a sales manager for the Tupperware Co.

She was a member First Baptist Church, Hollisterville, and an active church member in both Pennsylvania and Page, Ariz. She worked for the Board of Elections in Page. Surviving are a daughter, Neva Rea Brinkman, Lake Ariel; and three grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Walter Early Doyle, and a brother, Vivian Monroe Hammond. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Preitz September 1, 2001 Catherine Wisneski Preitz, a lifelong West Scranton resident, died Saturday morning at Mountain Rest Nursing Home. She was the widow of Edward Preitz, who died Dec. 28, 1962. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Leopold and Katherine Trudnowski Wisneski, she attended Scranton public schools and was a 1934 graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School.

She was a waitress for Romart Inc. before retirement. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral and its Ladies Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Society, Marya Konopnicka Society West Side Branch; and American Legion Post 207 Auxiliary, where she was a past president and was very active for some 50 years. Surviving are two sons, Edward II, Ransom Township, and Paul, Taylor; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces alid nephews.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Matilda Posluszny, Monica Wisneski, Hedwig Naslanic and Florence Mehes, and two brothers, Clement and Leopold Wisneski. The funeral will be Wednesday from the Joseph W. Sznyter Funeral Home, 1101 Prospect with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, South Scranton.

Entrepreneur In Sushi Dies ASSOCIATED PRESS TOKYO Yoshiaki Shiraishi, who took sushi to the masses in Japan by serving it on a conveyor belt in fast food-type restaurants, died Wednesday of liver cirrhosis. He was 87. Shiraishi, chairman of Genroku Sangyo died in a hospital in Osaka, a western Japanese city known for its food lovers. A former sushi chef, Shiraishi opened his first revolving sushi bar in 1958 in Osaka.In the restaurants, customers sit around a bar like in a traditional sushi shop.

But instead of ordering directly from the chef, they pick up their raw fish morsels off a conveyor belt..
